King Charles begins his stay at Balmoral with a bizarre meeting with a pony

King Charles, following the tradition of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, has arrived at Balmoral Castle to enjoy the rest of the summer vacation.

This place has a special meaning for the British royal family, as it was here that the monarch died on September 8, 2022.

Upon arrival, King Charles received a special welcome. As the new Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, he inspected a guard of honor consisting of the Balaklava Company and the 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

He also had the opportunity to meet the regiment’s unique mascot.

Like his mother, King Charles had the opportunity to meet Cruachan IV, a Shetland pony that serves as the mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The magazine People mentions some of the moments that Queen Elizabeth had the opportunity to share with the pony, which showed quite strange reactions, such as defecating right in her presence, which happened in 2018.

Likewise, in 2017, the animal tried to eat a bouquet of flowers that King Charles’ mother was carrying, a peculiar behavior that the Queen eventually got used to.

A few days ago, Balmoral Castle issued a statement saying that the grounds, gardens and exhibitions would not be open to the public, suggesting that King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family would gather at the residence in the coming weeks.

When Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband, purchased the castle and surrounding estate, Balmoral was a favorite retreat for the royal family during warm summer days.

It is likely that in the coming days other prominent members of the royal family, such as Princess Anne, Prince William, Princess Kate and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, will gather at the castle to enjoy its charm and beauty.
