“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral tonight and return to London tomorrow,” read the brief statement posted by the royal family’s official Instagram account.
Charles, Camilla, William, and the rest of the Queen’s children: Anne, Andrew and Edward arrived urgently to the Scottish locality after it was reported that the Queen must be under medical surveillance due to the debacle of her health.

What was the last photo of Queen Elizabeth II before her death?
The news about the Queen’s health took many by surprise, since this very week, last September 6, 2022, she met with the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss.
It was precisely that meeting that left what would be the last public images of Her Majesty. In them she made history by receiving the Prime Minister at Balmoral Castle, a meeting that has always been held at Buckingham Palace.
In those photos the 96-year-old Queen was seen with her cane in hand, although visibly a little faded, she looked generally well. She was wearing a plaid skirt, white blouse and a gray cardigan. In the image released by the royal family’s official Instagram account the queen is smiling as she shakes Truss’ hand.
