After being absent for over a month, the young princesses Leonor and Sofia, aged 17 and 16 respectively, are prepared to resume their royal duties.
Their return to the public stage will take place next Wednesday, July 5, during the Princess of Girona Awards ceremony.
Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia at the Princess of Girona Awards 2023
The Royal Household has confirmed that King Felipe and Queen Letizia’s daughters will have their own schedule of events connected to the activities organized by the Princess of Girona Foundation. This means we will have the opportunity to see them in action without their parents.
Leonor and Sofia will make their solo appearance during the presentation of a study titled ‘Converging paths: young people and companies facing the talent challenge,’ which has been prepared by KPMG.
But that’s not all. Later in the day, the princesses will continue their tour to familiarize themselves with the awards’ details and attend the AmplificARTE workshop concert, a music and education project promoted by Art House Academy.
The morning’s events won’t end there. In the afternoon, Felipe and Letizia will join their daughters in an event where they will meet with previous award winners.
The highlight of the day will be the ‘Princess of Girona Awards 2023’ ceremony in the evening, which will be presided over by the King and Queen. During the ceremony, we will have the opportunity to hear both Felipe VI and Princess Leonor speak.
The kings and Princess Leonor visit the military academy
Leonor’s reappearance won’t be limited to Girona, as next Friday, July 7, she will accompany her father, King Felipe, and her mother, Queen Letizia, to the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.

The heir to the throne will preside over the ceremony where new officers of the Army, who have completed their training at the General Military Academy and the respective specialized academies, will receive their offices and appointments. However, this time she will do so in the presence of her parents.
This event will mark the first time that Leonor takes charge of such an occasion. It also comes a month before she begins her training in military affairs at the Military Academy of Zaragoza. Additionally, this will be the first visit for Spain’s first-born daughter to the place where she will reside next year.
