During the last weekend, Meghan Markle confirmed what had been the subject of speculation in recent days: she and her husband, Prince Harry, have decided to separate, at least on the work front. This confirmation was even backed by a close friend of the couple.
While Prince Harry fulfilled a series of commitments in Lesotho related to his foundation, Meghan stayed in the United States with their children.
This separation of activities generated a wave of comments, as many anticipated she would join her husband on his trip. However, little was known at the time about her own schedule of public engagements.
Meghan Markle at Children’s Hospital L.A. Gala
This weekend, Meghan surprised everyone by attending the Children’s Hospital L.A. Gala, a featured event held every two years to honor both patients and pediatric staff at the CHLA hospital.
It gathers some of California’s top physicians, researchers, and caregivers, according to information available on the organization’s website.
The gala was held on Saturday, Oct. 5, coinciding with Prince Harry’s stay in Africa.
Hosted by Joy Cryer and Lisa Joyner, the event honored a variety of personalities, including television producer and writer Chuck Lorre, as well as former boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard and his wife Bernadette.
Among the attendees were well-known figures such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Kaley Cuoco, Colin Hanks, Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney, as well as Sky and Mark Hoppus, Al Yankovic, and Demi Lovato, who all performed at the event.
Upon her arrival, Meghan dazzled on the red carpet in an elegant red Carolina Herrera gown, which she had previously worn to the Salute to Freedom gala in New York in 2021.
During the gala, Meghan interacted with a family whose children are patients at the hospital, making herself approachable by bending down to take photos with the children and having friendly chats.
She also took time to chat with a group of nurses, taking selfies with them and thanking them for their hard work.
This is not the first time Meghan has shown her support for Children’s Hospital L.A.’s efforts.
In March, she praised the institution while visiting the hospital to read books to young patients, describing it as the “best place in the world” for children to receive medical care.
“Oh my goodness, the work they do at Children’s Hospital L.A. is otherworldly, and I think from my standpoint as a mother, no one wants to be in a position where you need to go to a place like this, but if you have to, the best place in the world you could go would be Children’s Hospital L.A.,” she said at the time.
