A few days ago, Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary.
The couple shared an unpublished photo of their wedding on their social media, generating dozens of comments and reactions from users who recalled the impressive celebration seen by millions of people around the world, including Meghan Markle.
Over the years, a strong opinion came to light that the former actress did not hesitate to share with her audience on the Internet.
It is enough to remember that before announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan had a lifestyle blog called “The Tig”, the same one that was speculated that she would resume this year.
The Duchess of Sussex used the platform to share her opinions on everything from feminism to her passion for philanthropy.
A big fan of cooking, she also shared recipes, beauty and makeup tips, travel recommendations, and interviews with her celebrity friends, such as tennis player Serena Williams and actress Priyanka Chopra.
Eventually, however, the Duchess of Sussex decided to leave that stage behind and start from scratch with a new project called “American Riviera Orchard,” where her first product, a strawberry jam, has already reached the hands of various celebrities.
What did Meghan say about William and Kate’s wedding?
Before meeting Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, who was an actress at the time, claimed to know little about British royalty, although she was familiar with Kate Middleton, her future sister-in-law.
In a post on her defunct blog, The Tig, Meghan shared her impressions of the royal princesses, which were not particularly favorable.
She reflected on the grandiosity of Kate and William’s wedding and commented ironically on grown women perpetuating childish fantasies of fairy tale princesses.
The post was shared in 2014, three years after the Prince and Princess of Wales married in Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.
While Meghan was still starring in Suits, she mentioned her childhood dream of being “She-Ra, Princess of Power.
Describing her idol, the twin sister of He-Man and star of a 1985 animated series based on Mattel toys, Meghan declared, “We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella,” alluding to the intense media coverage of her future brother-in-law’s wedding.
Reflecting on childhood fantasies, Meghan noted that little girls dream of being princesses, but others, like herself, identified more with the character of She-Ra.
She also reflected on how some adult women perpetuate these fantasies, as evidenced by the pomposity of the royal wedding and the constant chatter about Princess Kate, taking a teasing tone without imagining that in just four years, she too would join this exclusive circle.
Meghan Markle’s wedding
In May 2018, Meghan Markle lived her own fairy tale when she married Prince Harry and assumed the title of Duchess of Sussex.
The ceremony was full of the pomp and formality characteristic of a royal wedding, highlighted by the presence of her father-in-law, the current King Charles III, who walked her down the aisle at Windsor’s historic St. George’s Chapel.
