What has leaked from Prince Harry’s memoir?
In the 416 pages that make up the book Harry recounts the most unpleasant episodes that somehow marked his life being a “spare” between luxury and strict education. Here is a summary of the most shocking episodes.
Prince Harry used cocaine
For years the British press has talked about Prince Harry’s messy life, now it is known that the rumors were true: Harry used cocaine in his teens.
The youngest son of Lady Di tells that he consumed cocaine during a hunting weekend and that since then he consumed it on other occasions. Although he admits that it did not make him happy, it only made him feel different and for him that was the goal: “to alter the pre-established order”.
Prince Harry losing virginity
He has also addressed more intimate moments such as when he lost his virginity also at the age of 17 to an older woman who liked male horses and who treated him like a young stallion. Harry relates that it was a “humiliating episode,” as he says he “mounted her quickly,” the woman spanked him and kicked him out. The whole scene happened in a field.
Camilla, “the wicked stepmother”.
Another chapter focuses on the arrival of Camilla Parker into their lives. Harry recounts how he and William begged his father not to marry Camilla, fearing that she would be his “wicked stepmother.” He wondered if “she would be cruel like all the wicked stepmothers in fairy tales.”
Prince Harry killed 25 people
The Duke of Sussex has recalled his 10 years in the British Army and more specifically what he experienced in Afghanistan. Harry unlike other soldiers he knows the number of people he killed.
“My number is 25. It’s not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but it doesn’t embarrass me either.”
According to Harry “you can’t kill people if you see them as people”, so for him they were “chess pieces removed from the board”.
William’s physical aggression
Harry goes so far as to define William as his “archenemy”, a word that defines where his relationship with his brother stands. However, the fight they had at Nottinghan Cottage was the definitive break in their bond.
The fight started when William accused Meghan Markle of being “abrasive”, “difficult and rude”. The two brothers began arguing loudly to the point that, according to Harry’s own account, his brother grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground, landing on the dog’s dish, which broke off injuring Harry in the back.
“I saw the red mist on William. He wanted me to hit him back, but I chose not to.”
Meghan Markle vs. Kate Middleton
Harry also tells of the feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. He refers to an episode that happened in 2018, months before their wedding where Meghan told Kate that she had “baby brain”, due to the hormonal revolution due to her pregnancy with Prince Louis. This comment did not please the Princess of Wales at all.
Harry visited a psychic
The Duke of Sussex has acknowledged in his memoirs that he contacted a psychic to talk to his mother from beyond the grave. Harry is aware that his mother would be very sad to see how their children are estranged. When William and Harry were children, Diana constantly repeated to them that they should never fight.
Harry’s last words to Queen Elizabeth II
Harry in his book ‘Spare’ addresses the death of the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth II. He recounts that although he could not make it to Balmoral in time he wanted to say goodbye to his grandmother:
“I whispered to her that I hoped she was happy and that she was now with grandfather. I said I admired her for doing her duty to the end.”
Undoubtedly, the revelations of the Duke of Sussex have shaken the foundations of Buckingham Palace.
