Prince Harry will travel to London next week to face new legal challenges in his home country. The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to testify as a witness in a trial against Mirror Group Newspapers, accused of illegal information gathering, including phone hacking.
This case comes after Harry lost a legal battle against the British Home Office over his family’s security and following the announcement that he will likely have to appear in federal court in the United States because of statements about his drug use in his controversial autobiography.
Will there be a reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles?
It is unlikely that Harry will have the opportunity to meet his father during his stay, as he will travel to Transylvania where he is expected to spend at least a week in the rural location. Queen Camilla, meanwhile, will stay at her country residence in Wiltshire.
Prince Harry is expected to make his statement at the trial in London and then return immediately to his home in California with his wife and children.
This trip by Harry to England will come one day after his daughter Lilibet’s second birthday on Sunday, June 4.
Harry to testify in historic media trial
This is virtually unheard of in the current century, as it will be the first time in more than 20 years that a member of the royal family has testified in court, since Princess Anne, Harry’s aunt, did so in 2002.
On that occasion, the princess pleaded guilty after her dog bit two children in Windsor Park, resulting in a fine and financial compensation.
Is Prince Harry’s deportation imminent?
Prince Harry is facing a legal problem that threatens his immigration status in the United States.
The director of the Heritage Foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, Nile Gardiner, has said that Prince Harry’s immigration records case will be brought before a federal judge in Washington DC.
The debate centers on whether Prince Harry properly disclosed his use of cocaine, marijuana, and hallucinogenic mushrooms on his visa application.
When the Duke of Sussex is in London a U.S. court will rule on this case that has generated controversy.
The conservative foundation has sharply criticized the revelations about Harry’s drug use since they were detailed in his autobiography “Spare.”
