Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 96th birthday this Thursday and for the occasion the toy manufacturer, Mattel, has launched the Queen Elizabeth Barbie Doll, as a tribute for her Platinum Jubilee.
The doll looks just like the Queen, with her signature short white hairstyle, dressed in one of her ball gowns and the diamond fringe tiara, called ‘The Queen Mary Diamond Fringe Tiara’.
Details you should know before buying the barbie Queen Elizabeth doll
The Queen Elizabeth Barbie Doll look is inspired by the style and color of a dress she likes to wear in royal portraits of herself, following her signature style of simple, white or ivory designs, the company said in a statement.
“Barbie’s design team captured every detail, from the crown jewels to the tiny medallions on the sash to bring this royal representation to life,” read a statement released by the manufacturer. “The tiara is the Queen Mary Tiara, and the little medallions on the ribbons are the royal family orders.”
The doll comes in a premium box that is ideal for display, definitely a great gift for collectors.
This is not the first time that Mattel has launched a doll inspired by a British monarch, something it already did in 1995. On this occasion, the brand wanted to pay tribute to the reign of the monarch, for her leadership, humanitarian efforts and a life of public service. The Queen Elizabeth Barbie Doll costs $75.
