Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, was born in London on Wednesday, April 21, 1926. At 96, she is the longest reigning monarch in the United Kingdom with 70 years on the throne.
When Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born, her chances of assuming the throne were nil, as her father was the youngest son of King George V, but her life changed at the age of 10, in 1936 when her uncle, King Edward VIII abdicated, her father became King George VI and she automatically became the crown princess.
