Queen Letizia's expression was one of great concern.

Princess Leonor’s most important day in her preparation to become Queen was marred by the peculiar behavior of her mother, Queen Letizia.

Last October 31, on her 18th birthday, the heiress fulfilled the important oath of allegiance to the Constitution, considered one of the fundamental steps for her future ascension to the throne.

On October 31, Princess Leonor was sworn in to the Spanish Constitution.

Dressed in a modern and elegant white suit, Leonor could not enjoy this important moment due to her mother’s attitude. The Queen seemed very serious, even angry.

Since then, the reasons for her behavior have been speculated, but until now, no one has given a definitive explanation.

What was wrong with Queen Letizia at the swearing-in of the Constitution?

Although the Spanish media said that the apparent discomfort was due to a health problem, royal family expert Pilar Eyre revealed the real reason for the anger.

The writer revealed to Lecturas magazine that Letizia’s behavior was related to her ex-brother-in-law, Jaime del Burgo, who recently claimed to have had an extramarital affair with her.

On the eve of Leonor’s birthday, Letizia received a phone call warning of the imminent spread of news that would affect her public image. Such a call, according to the journalist, deeply affected the Queen’s attitude at the swearing in of the Constitution.

To make matters worse, the book in which the alleged infidelity was mentioned was published.

Days later, on December 4, 2023, Letizia’s ex-brother-in-law decided to share additional details of their alleged affair on his X account, although he later deleted them.

Days later, however, he doubled down on his confessions, claiming that he did not regret what he had said.

Despite the uproar caused by the news, La Zarzuela chose the best tactic: indifference.

The kings, Felipe and Letizia, continued to fulfill their usual obligations in the monarchy without even mentioning the subject.
