A new twist has taken the controversy involving the Marquess of Cholmondeley, his wife Rose Hanbury and Prince William. For several years there has been a rumor that between the future king and Hanbury, there is something more than friendship.
Although no representative of the British Royal Household or the Marquise has confirmed or denied anything, rumors continue to roll around some portals specialized in the royal family.
Rose Hanbury’s husband’s new job
Now, the whole story will take a turn, as it became known that Rose’s husband, David Rocksavage, seventh Marquess of Cholmondeley will be the new private secretary of King Charles III.
It should be remembered that the marquis was “out of a job” after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Until the last moment, Hanbury’s husband held the official position of Lord Great Chamberlain.
His job was to wear the royal crown at the opening ceremony of Parliament, as well as to wear a distinctive scarlet courtier’s uniform that included a golden key and a white cane, insignia of the prestigious position.
With the death of the queen and changes made by King Charles, that office is now held by Baron Carrington.
As reported by Richard Eden in the Daily Mail, the 62-year-old Marquess’ new job will be to attend important royal and state engagements. He will also represent the king at various royal functions.
There are two types of private secretaries or lords-in-waiting: political (i.e., appointed by the government) and non-political (appointed by the king). David Cholmondeley is a permanent private secretary, which means that he is a retired senior civil servant of the British royal household.
