Prince Andrew and Prince Harry, at the express wish of King Charles III, have appeared in military uniforms at the vigil in Westminster Hall.
On Friday, September 16, the four children of Queen Elizabeth II held a vigil at Westminster Hall, where they paid their respects beside the coffin containing the mortal remains of their mother. King Charles together with Princes Anne, Edward and Andrew have starred in the solemn act where the Duke of York was able to wear military uniform.
Like Prince Andrew, the Duke of Sussex was also able to wear his military uniform this Saturday, September 17, when all the grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II participated in the last vigil of the princes. A last great act of the family before the state funeral scheduled for this coming Monday 19.
Prince Harry and Prince Andrew had not worn uniforms in official acts for some time, as they were exempted from this honor because they were not performing effective functions on behalf of the Royal Family. However, by special indication of King Charles this ‘punishment’ is lifted for the vigils for the mortal remains of the Queen.
The vigil of Elizabeth’s grandchildren was led by Prince William. After him, his brother Harry, his cousins Eugenie and Beatrice, as well as Zara Tindall, Peter Philips and the children of Prince Edward, Louise and James, Viscount Severn.
As tradition dictates, at both vigils, silence was observed at the Queen’s coffin for 15 minutes. Everyone has been seen with gestures of sadness and great sorrow. An act of great solemnity in which the children and grandchildren of Elizabeth II have received all the limelight and where they have surely had the opportunity to remember their happiest moments at the side of the monarch.
