    Letizia Ortiz By Robert Marquez

Curiosity about Queen Letizia’s past reaches the court that holds her divorce decree

Prince Felipe de Bourbon and his bride, princess Letizia Ortiz after their wedding May 22, 2004.

Queen Letizia has more than earned the respect of Spaniards thanks to her closeness, spontaneity, and extensive knowledge. This is confirmed by sources at La Zarzuela, who assure that her position is no longer questioned by anyone.

However, some aspects of her past as a journalist or the details of her first marriage still arouse interest in certain sectors.

Queen Letizia’s divorce decree has resurfaced

When the engagement between Letizia and Felipe was announced in 2003, measures were taken to remove from the Internet any compromising information about the life of the then princess.

The same happened with the data of her marriage and divorce from Alonso Guerrero years before.

The sentence of that divorce has been guarded since then in a safe in the court of Arganda del Rey.

But the earthquake that has generated the recent comments of Letizia’s ex-brother-in-law, Jaime del Burgo, about an alleged relationship between the two has rekindled interest in these details of the past.

Sources close to the court assure that some officials fear that information about the divorce could now be leaked.

“The situation has been discussed in petit comité”, confess court sources to the website Monarquía Confidencial.

However, in Zarzuela, they are not worried, since accessing these documents would be a crime. For now, no strange movements interested in the divorce sentence of Queen Letizia with her former husband have been detected.

In any case, the solid image of Letizia as the queen has earned with her work does not seem that these embers of the past can tarnish a figure that has been fully consolidated in the Spanish Royal House.
