Irene Urdangarin, the 18-year-old daughter of Infanta Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarin, will embark on a gap year before starting her university studies.
The youngest of the Urdangarin siblings plans to take a year off to travel and gain new experiences.
Irene recently finished her high school studies and had originally planned to attend the prestigious EHL Hospitality Business School in Switzerland.
However, she has decided to postpone college to explore the world and take on a new stage. Her gap year is expected to begin after Christmas.
What will Irene Urdangarin do during her gap year?
The first thing on Urdangarin’s agenda is to travel to Cambodia. Her brother Juan has already been there and sparked her interest in the Southeast Asian country.
He also plans to visit Mozambique and India. Immersing herself in new cultures and collaborating as a volunteer in humanitarian causes will be the objectives of her travels.
Before the end of the year, Irene has two appointments marked on the calendar that include some family events.
She will attend the wedding of a cousin in Barcelona and will celebrate the 18th birthday of Princess Leonor on October 31 at the El Pardo Palace.
It should be noted that her cousin and close friend, Victoria Federica, will not attend Leonor’s birthday, according to information that has come out so far.
Irene will take advantage of the time off to broaden her horizons. The sabbatical year will provide her with personal growth and maturity before she begins her university studies.
