Queen Elizabeth’s dogs were left without their beloved owner. The love that the monarch professed for her beloved corgis (the breed of her dogs), was such that they have a huge family tree, most of them are descendants of Susan, her first corgi, which was given to her in 1944 for her 18th birthday.
Since the 1940s, the monarch has had these unique and very British dogs. Currently, she had five puppies, after her death this September 8, 2022, many are wondering what will happen to them?
What will happen to Queen Elizabeth’s dogs?
The dogs named Muick, Sandy; a dorgi (a cross between corgi and dachshund) named Candy and two cocker spaniels, are part of Her Majesty’s legacy.
Although they have not yet made any pronouncement on who will be in charge of the puppies, it is speculated that Prince Andrew would be the one in charge since he was the one who gifted her some of them.

Muick and the dorgi Fergus, were a gift from the Duke of York after the death of Prince Philip, husband of the Queen. The little dog named Fergus died three months later, so Prince Andrew and his daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, gave her another corgi named Sandy.
“I imagine that the dogs will be cared for by the family, probably by Prince Andrew, since he is the one who gave them to her,” said author Penny Junor in statements to ‘Newsweek’.
She also adds that the staff closest to the monarch could also take care of the dogs.
“The care of the dogs has sometimes fallen to the service staff, but mostly to Elizabeth II’s dressmaker, assistant and trusted right-hand woman, Angela Kelly, and her equally trusted page for many years, Paul Whybrew. Who was seen walking with the queen and the dogs in the sketch filmed alongside James Bond,” she wrote in ‘All the Queen’s Corgis,’ the book published in 2018.
The queen’s love for animals does not only go back to corgis, the monarch has had other breeds of dogs, she has also had ponies and her beloved horses.
