Members of the royal families have been in the spotlight for their alleged extramarital affairs. Especially now that Prince William’s controversy with Rose Hanbury seems to have no end in sight.
Although in some of these cases have not been proven with evidence or have not acknowledged infidelities, the truth is that the loyalty they have to the crown is not the same for their respective wives or husbands.
Unfaithful royals
Here is a list of royals who have been involved in infidelity scandals.
Jack Brooksbank
The husband of Princess Eugenie was the target of comments in the British press after some photos of him appeared while he was on a trip to Italy. In the images, he appeared surrounded by women aboard a yacht and one of them was topless. After the scandal the model apologized for appearing half-naked and Jack received the support of her mother-in-law Sarah Ferguson.
King Carl Gustaf of Sweden
There have always been rumors about King Carl Gustaf’s infidelity, but a biography written by three journalists in 2010 reinforced those speculations. It is known that the king attended cabarets, and wild parties and was a notorious womanizer.
The king claimed he had not read the book but had spoken to his family. “We turn the page and look forward, because these matters happened a long time ago”, was what the monarch said.
Daniel Ducruet
In 1995 Stephanie of Monaco married her bodyguard, Daniel Ducruet, after five years together and two children. She thought that stability had come into her life, but it was not so. In 1996 a scandal erupted with the dissemination of images of him making love with a dancer in a swimming pool.
Then Prince Rainier urged him to leave the country and Stephanie asked him for a divorce. A year later Ducruet wrote a letter, which later became part of a book, in which he apologized to the princess and assured her that everything had been a trap.
Philip of Edinburgh
Although nothing was ever proven, it is said that Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Philip Duke of Edinburgh, was a womanizer. His list included women close to royalty and even celebrities.
King Juan Carlos I of Spain
