The dilemma over where Prince Andrew will live continues to generate controversy. King Charles’ brother was notified that he must leave Royal Lodge, the residence where he has spent the last few years.
Andrew has shared this property since it was assigned to him by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, but with Charles on the throne, the new monarch asked him to vacate it and move to a more modest dwelling such as Frogmore Cottage.
It should be noted that Frogmore Cottage was the dwelling that the queen assigned to Harry and Meghan, but the new king also asked them to vacate.
Rumors have circulated in recent months that King Charles III may ask his brother to vacate the 30-room house as part of plans to downsize the monarchy.
Prince Andrew leaving Royal Lodge?
According to what was published by the Daily Mail, Royal Lodge will go through a remodeling process. However, the Duke of York does not want to leave the property because he fears that, once the remodeling is finished, he will be prevented from returning.
According to the source consulted by the British media, he fears being permanently evicted if he leaves the Royal Lodge, even temporarily.
“Andrew has roof repairs scheduled later this summer which will take several months to complete and has been advised that staying in the house during those renovations could prove problematic. But he is reluctant to leave.”
Royal Lodge has been Prince Andrew’s home since 2003 when he reportedly signed a 75-year lease for the property.
Since then, he has spent some £8.5 million renovating the property, which he rents for £290 a week.

He currently lives there with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, even though the couple divorced in 1996.
The mansion, located 5 kilometers from Windsor Castle, was the residence of the Queen Mother until 2002.
